Training Courses

Almost all our equipment is purpose made for the professional market. That means much of it requires specialist knowledge to use productively and safely. Most of you will have many years experience in the industry, but there are always new items on the market to review and familiarise yourself with. In addition many productions rely heavily on assistants who sometimes lack the depth of experience necessary to work with the broad range of equipment available for hire today.

That’s why we have created a unique training and demonstration environment, custom-built and staffed by qualified trainers. Here you can test all our equipment, or we’ll demonstrate it to you. Courses for students, assistants, booking agents, plus our own staff, combined with product demonstrations and test sessions give everyone the chance to get to know our equipment without the pressure of a large shoot. We’ve always got courses running here and you can book our facilities at any time. Our staff will be happy to let you know about upcoming events, and if you have any suggestions regarding training we are very happy to take those on board too.

We have come up with the ideal one day training course to plug the skills gap. Our Moving Image Course gives you the opportunity to learn creative techniques for handling the latest cameras and lighting for video.

With the web gaining ever more strength and cameras such as the Canon 5D ll taking off, we have noticed an increasing demand from photographers wishing to expand their knowledge when creating moving images on shoots. Perhaps it’s a “behind the scenes” segment from a fashion shoot to go up on a clients website, or a short cut from a portrait sitting, but whatever the situation, video skills are becoming essential for the working photographer.

The course will be run by an award winning lighting cameraman Jonathan Harrison who is highly experienced in demonstrating lighting and shooting both technically and creatively. It will be an intensive ‘hands-on’ one day course in our SE1 studio and will include tungsten, HMI fresnel, Par, Kino Flo and LED lighting equipment as well as all the latest in video DSLR camera technology from Canon.
